Question 1

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

The planning software is free forever. $144 a year adds the equity analyzer, the tax and Roth tools, and the AI assistant. $379 a year adds a 15-minute meeting each with a CPA, an attorney and a financial planner. Paid plans are billed once a year, with no monthly option. The first 30 days are free, with no card needed. Business is $79 a year per employee for teams of 3 or more.

Question 2

Does it renew? How do I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Plans renew each year until canceled. Cancel any time in Settings → Your plan → Manage billing on the website. The plan stays on until the end of the paid year.

Question 3

Is this financial advice?

Accepted Answer

No. Next Step provides general financial education based on the information you enter. It isn’t individualized investment, tax, or legal advice, and it doesn’t pick investments or products. Messages with the advisor, the CPA, or the attorney are their own separate service.

Question 4

How are the retirement odds worked out?

Accepted Answer

The Planner runs your plan through thousands of simulated market paths and counts how often the money lasts. It’s an estimate from the assumptions shown, not a prediction.

Question 5

Do I need to connect my bank?

Accepted Answer

No. You can type a few rough numbers instead. Connecting (read-only) keeps your picture current.

Question 6

How does it work for a company?

Accepted Answer

Business is for teams of 3 or more: $79 a year per employee. Each employee gets the plan, messages with an advisor where available, and 401(k) education. The company sees counts only, never anyone’s numbers.

Question 7

Do you sell insurance or investments?

Accepted Answer

No. The guides explain how accounts and coverage generally work. We don’t sell products or get paid for links.

Question 8

Can I delete my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Delete your account and personal data any time from Settings. That also cancels your own plan. If you had an advisor, the records the law requires them to keep (like your conversations) are kept for a set time, then deleted.
